ACX Plywood products are classified as a high grade type of plywood, due to its strength and durability. ACX refers to the grade of wood and the quality of glue used to make the Plywood.
What Does ACX Stand For?
The letter “A” in ACX, refers to the side of the plywood that is considered the “face”, which is most often the preferred side of the plywood. The preferred side of the plywood will have fewer knots and defects than the other side. The “A” side of the plywood is the visible side of the plywood when used in projects.
The letter “C” in ACX, refers to the side of the plywood that is considered the back side and typically will not be visible. Most often the back sides of the plywood have a few more knots and cracks than the “face” side of the plywood.
The letter “X” in ACX, refers to the exterior adhesive used to join the two separate woods panels together. The exterior adhesive is waterproof, which enhances the quality of the plywood and protects the plywood from outdoor elements.
